G Janardhana Reddy, Minister for Tourism and Infrastructure, Karnataka is leading a ten-member delegation that comprises of hotels, resorts and tour operators from the state to promote the state of Karnataka in the European market. Karnataka Tourism is conducting a series of workshops for the tourism trade in Zurich, Brussels and Paris this week. It also plans to conduct workshops in London and Frankfurt.
Chitra Narayanan, Ambassador to India in Switzerland, inaugurated the event, where more than than 125 members took part in it. The delegation presented destination Karnataka to 50 well known and influential trade members from Zurich yesterday.
The minister pointed out the importance of a wider European base for Karnataka Tourism. Apart from the traditional markets of the UK, Germany and France, other markets too need to be part of the marketing plan so as to attract the up-market tourists, individual tourists as well as the MICE segment. Reddy further pointed out that MICE, Wellness and The Golden Chariot presented a huge opportunity for Karnataka. That is precisely the reason to target places like Zurich and Brussels, which are home to some of the widest range of world associations and organisations.
