KHARA urges J-K Govt to devise tourism policy for next 15 years

In view of tourism being the only surviving industry in Kashmir, Kashmir Hotels and Restaurant Association (KHARA) has urged the government to devise a tourism policy for next 15 years to help state’s tourism industry prosper.

Tourism is the only industry in the state that has sustained despite the turmoil for more than 23 years. Now that the state is moving towards stability, there is an acute need to boost this industry by formulating a proper tourism policy.

“Government should also take on board the local tourism experts while framing the policy. The development at the known tourism places has reached to saturation. Government should regenerate basic infrastructure including developing roads leading to lesser known tourist spots so that tourist flow at main scenic eases,” quotes KHARA President Showkat Chowdhry.
