To promote tourism in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir government’s Department of Tourism is planning to organize road shows in Saudi Arabia, Geneva and Switzerland in the first week of January 2013.
Similar road shows were organised few months ago in August in places like Malaysia, Singapore, Bangkok, Taiwan and Hong Kong. According to official sources, the GAD on Friday accorded formal sanction to the deputation of Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora, MoS Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani, Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Director Tourism Kashmir and Assistant Director Tourism Leh for holding road shows subject to clearance by the concerned Union Ministries from January 6 to February 2, at different destinations.
According to the schedule prepared by the department, MoS Tourism along with two senior officials Director Tourism Kashmir and Assistant Director Leh would first visit Saudi Arabia between Jan 6-10 and hold road shows in Jeddah and Riyadh. In the second leg of the tour the Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora, MoS Nasir Aslam Wani and Commissioner Secretary and Director Tourism Kashmir would visit Geneva, Switzerland and Spain from January 28 to February 2 to promote tourist destinations in the state.
