The Jharkhand government, after boosting rural and eco-tourism, is now planning to cash in on its diverse terrain by promoting adventure sports.
Sajal Chakravarty, additional chief secretary in the tourism department, on Saturday said Jharkhand Adventure Tourism Institute would be revived.
"The institute was established by the government in 2008 to promote adventure tourism in the state but has been inactive for the last few years. We are once again planning to revive the institution so we can attract more adventure-loving people," said Chakravarty at a meeting that was attended by representatives from 15 districts, who discussed various adventure tourism spots in respective areas.
"We will provide few boats to each district to start boating facilities and will also provide them with tents so that they can organize camping trips as water and land sports have much scope in the state," said Chakravarty, adding, "the department will also train those in charge of organizing these sports."
