The stage is set for a special pilgrimage to the world famous Baba Baidyanath Dham temple in Deoghar. For the first time ever, kanwariyas (pilgrims) will be able to fly to the dham, offer pujas and return home without any hassle, with the chartered flight services from Ranchi to Deoghar being inaugurated on Thursday.
The first flight will take off on July 22, the day the month-long Shravani Mela begins. The project undertaken by the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) and the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJhas garnered a massive response from the pilgrims. President of FJCCI tourism committee Shailesh Agrawal said over 100 phones calls have come to the tourism committee making inquiries about the unique project. "This has exceeded our expectations. We will soon open the sale of tickets for one and all at home and abroad," he said.
The pilgrim has to book a tour package for visiting the dham during Shravani Mela. FJCCI has hired nine-seater light aircraft that will carry pilgrims to Baba Dham. The cost of the package for per head is Rs 14,999.
