Jharkhand SilkTextile & Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd (Jharcraft), is planning to foray into rural tourism in Jharkhand. Jharcraft will establish a hospitality chain across the state with an aim to make it the hub of rural tourism.

Jharcraft MD Dhirendra Kumar said, "Government has already allotted us land in Betla, Madhupur, Ghatshila and Hirni falls. A company has to be formed for the execution of the project. A resolution to the same effect has to be passed by the board." "We will bring up the matter at the board meeting within a day or two. In all probability, rural tourism will start in Madhupur by July-end after the board passes the resolution," he added.

The locals will be involved in the project. "Involving locals will generate employment and provide better livelihood options for them. We will also install modern dairy, poultry and fishery for the use of restaurants and will try to use vegetables and fruits grown by local farmers so that they get better money for their products," said Kumar.

Local dancers and singers will be made to perform for tourists, thus opening up another livelihood option for them, he added. Two professionals have been roped in by Jharcraft as per a TOI report. "They are passouts of the Indian Institute of Hotel Management with an experience of working at several five-star hotels of the city and will be joining us shortly," said Kumar.
