Japan Airlines (JAL) and Qantas Airways, both members of oneworld have reached an agreement to expand their partnership. Effective from today, JAL will codeshare with Qantas on flights operated by the latter between Singapore and Brisbane.
With the enhanced agreement with partner airline Qantas, JAL will retain Brisbane in its international network even though it has suspended its direct flights between Tokyo, Narita and Brisbane from September 30, 2010 after 22 years of operations.
JAL and Qantas first started to cooperate and offer codeshare flights in April 1986. Presently, JAL markets flights operated by Qantas from Singapore to Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. JAL will continue to serve and support customers travelling between Australia and Japan for leisure or work with these codeshare arrangements and two daily flights connecting Tokyo and Singapore.
