Jairam Ramesh to decide fate of Girnar ropeway project in Gujarat

The project has been delayed for various reasons since its foundation stone was laid in May 2007.

Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh is going to visit the site of the proposed ropeway project at Girnar mountain in Junagadh district in Gujarat to decide on its approval or rejection, as per PTI reports. The Minister will also visit Sasan Gir, where Asiatic lion sanctuary is located.

The long-pending ropeway project at Girnar mountain, which is inside the Girnar wildlife sanctuary, is estimated to cost Rs 89.31 crore and awaiting the clearance of Union Ministry of Environment and Forests.
