Governor JB Patnaik has emphasized the urgent need for developing the tourist destinations of the state by tapping all available resources. Patnaik, who was on a visit to the upcoming Sri Sri Jagannath Cultural Complex at Khanikar, 7 km from Dibrugarh, stated that tourism is the only sector which can effectively address the issue of unemployment. among youth apart from providing sustainable revenue generation to the state.
The 90- feet temple, being built on a 5-bigha plot of land, is a replica of the famous Jagannath temple of Puri. Construction work on the temple began in April, 2013.
Shiw Kumar Bagaria, the secretary of Sri Sri Jagannath Cultural Trust, said the project is expected to be completed by March end this year. The project is expected to cost Rs 5 crore.
