The Marriot Internatonal Inc has launched a 5-star JW Marriot hotel in Chandigarh, the first such hotel in North India and the second in the country after Mumbai.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Rajeev Menon, Marriott International's Area Vice-President India, Australia, Malaysia and Maldives, said: ''The opening of a JW Marriot Hotel in Chandigarh is a great milestone for us as Chandigarh is the best-planned city in India with architecutre which is world renowned and a quality of life, which is unparalleled.'' This hotel, he said, was designed with an aesthetic reflective of the JW Marriot brand and the unique lifestyle of ''The City Beautiful'' and was conceptualized on the basis of the five elements of nature. ''As the capital of the states of Punjab and Haryana and the Union Territory, Chandigarh is an extremely prestigious city.
The JW Marriott Chandigarh will redefine hospitality in the city making it the pereferred destination among locals and visitors alike,'' he added. Deepak Manocha, General Manager, JW Marriott Chandigarh said: ''With the immense growth and development seen in this dynamic city, our hotel will exceed our guests' requirement whether they are staying with us for leisure or business.'' JW Marriott, plans to open 12 new properties by year-end 2012, bringing the total global portfolio to 64 hotels and resorts in 27 countries.
