The city's mayor Asit Vora has become the first Indian mayor to be invited to the International Mayors Forum on Tourism (IMFT). IMFT, held at Zhengzhou in China. It is a grand tourism event with the most prospective and global cooperative signifance in world tourism industry.
Vora will be among mayors of worldwide tourist cities, who will explore tourism's role in accelerating economic recovery and promoting sustainable development. High-ranking officials from international tourism organizations, domestic and overseas government bodies, tourism wholesalers, investors and airline executives have been invited to participate in the IMFT, which will be held from September 26-29, 2012.
The forum is sponspored by the China National Tourism Administration and Henan Provincial People's Government supported by the United Nations World Tourism Organization(UNWTO), the Pacific Asia Travel Association(PATA) and the World Travel & Tourism Council(WTTC) as per a report in TOI.
"Ahmedabad's mayor has been invited as Ahmedabad has been rated as one of the fast growing cities of the world. Presentations will be done on Ahmedabad and Gujarat at the forum," said Jagat Shah, chairman, India China Economic & Cultural Council, Gujarat chapter, which is co-ordinating the event.
