A galaxy of top-notch hospitals and Expert medical professional are set to exhibit the increasing opportunities of Indian medical tourism destination for the State of Kuwait. An International Exhibition and Conference titled 'India Medical Tourism destination ( IMTD), 2011', will be held at Hall No. 7 at the Kuwait International Fair Grounds, Mishref, Kuwait on Wednesday, 2nd and Thursday, 3rd of November 2011.
HE Dr Hilal Al Sayer, the Helath Minister of Kuwait will inaugurate the event on 1st November 2011 at Crown Plaza Hotel, informed HE Mr Satish Mehta. He was briefing the press about the International Exhibition and Conference.
The concept behind this exhibition is to develop long-term partnership in the medical and holistic health care sector between India and Kuwait and also to promote the quality health care service available at reasonable prices in India across a range of medical streams. Around 33 leading hospitals from India and dozens of renowned doctors will be participating in the exhibition; officials informed during the press meet.
India is a major centre for quality, yet inexpensive medical treatment. In the year 2010, about 600,000 patients travelled to India from over 30 countries around the globe, mainly from USA, Canada, UK, Russia, the Middle East and Africa for treatment.
The most popular treatments sought in India by medical tourists are transplant surgeries (liver, kidney, heart) cardiac bypass surgery, eye surgery, orthopaedic surgery and spinal surgeries. India is known in particular for heart surgery, hip and knee resurfacing and other areas of advanced medicine and alternative medicines. In 2010 over 10,000 Kuwaiti nationals visited India for treatments related to Cardiac, Spinal, Cosmetic and various other surgeries, Ambassador Satish Mehta said.
India has some of the best medical professionals with requisite experience and in-depth knowledge to successfully undertake the most complicated surgical procedures. Indian doctors are well received everywhere in the world including Kuwait and other GCC countries.
Indian Medical system is famous from time immemorial. From the ages of Charaka, India excels in Medical field, said Dr Nampoory, President of Indian Doctors Forum. The cost-effective treatment in India with nil waiting periods has made it a very lucrative destination for medical tourists, he added.
