InterGlobe Hotels was established in mid-2004 as a joint venture between InterGlobe and Accor (60:40)‚ to develop a network of 25 ibis hotels with 3‚000 rooms across India over a period of 12 years. The venture today announced that it has 19 hotels with 3‚600 rooms committed. This portfolio will have a total asset value‚ inclusive of land of approximately Rs.1478Cr (US $317MN) on the completion of the hotels.

ibis hotels in India currently committed are located across 12 cities – New Delhi‚ Gurgaon‚ Mumbai‚ Bangalore‚ Chennai‚ Pune‚ Ahmedabad‚‚ Hyderabad‚ Jaipur‚ Nashik‚ Coimbatore‚ Kochi. With an average size of 190 keys (the largest being 465 keys)‚ 12 of these hotels are concentrated in Tier I cities‚ while seven are located in Tier II cities‚ as the group selectively ventures into cities showing significant economic growth. Two hotels are open‚ one more will open this year‚ and seven hotels will open in 2011.

Immediate target cities identified for development are Mumbai‚ Hyderabad‚ Kolkata‚ NOIDA‚ Chandigarh‚ Nagpur‚ Bhubaneshwar‚ Vadodara and Goa. A further six hotels are expected to be committed over the next 12-month period‚ and the venture has ambitions to add 4-6 ibis hotels to its portfolio every year going forward.
