The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC), will set up youth hostels in Orissa and other parts of the country to provide accommodation to sportspersons. The hostels would come up mostly in tourist destinations as per a report by Debabrata Mohapatra in TOI.
"In Orissa, we are planning to set up the hostel in Puri," IRCTCs group general manager (tourism, east zone), said Amlan Kumar Biswas. "Sportspersons can avail the hostel facilities at a reasonable price. It will be cheaper compared to hotels," Biswas said. He could not however say how many hostels would come up in Orissa.
Meanwhile, the IRCTC's proposed budget hotel project in Bhubaneswar, which has been hanging fire for long, will soon see the light of day with the mini-Ratna PSU deciding to open the tenders on October 2. The budget hotel, to be branded 'Rail Ratna' would come up on around one acre land in front of the Bhubaneswar railway station. The tariff is likely to start from Rs 700, sources said. The hotel would have around 25-30 rooms.
