The tourism industry players from India and France have said that 'responsible tourism' between both the countries would ensure steady flow of tourists.
As per PTI reports, the industry players at the 'Indo-French Seminar on Sustainable Tourism' organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) at Arossim, 30 kms from Panjim, said that conservation of environment and heritage is bottomline of responsible tourism.
"What is good for tourist is also good for local population," Rudy Salles, French member on external affairs committee of the national assembly lower chamber, said. He said that the stress has been laid on reducing car traffic in the city by offering alternatives like tramways and bikes on rent.
The French parliamentarian said that the affordable public transport system is also helping to reduce the number of vehicles on the road. Salles said there are 400,000 bikes which are on the hire for the tourists. The Indian representatives for the meeting said that in India, too, the stress is for the conservation architecture through the tourism initiatives.
Mandip Singh Soin, president of Eco-tourism society of India, said that while on one side the eco-tourism speaks of preserving the nature and on the other side, another segment of tourism is spoiling it.
