IndiGo is all set to begin operation on international routes from August. Initially, the airline is planning to operate its flights to Dubai, Kathmandu, Bangkok and Singapore. Muscat is another international destination on the cards as per a repor in The Statesman.
The airline began its domestic operations on 5 August 2006. After completing five years, which is a mandatory requirement for extending flights to international stations by any domestic airline; IndiGo has now obtained clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and from the ministry.
Internal training of staff to update them for international operations are on. The training include international ticketing system, reservation details and foreign exchange formalities.
To begin with, the airline will operate flights to foreign countries from Delhi, Mumbai and from either Bangalore or Chennai. IndiGo will begin its international operations from Kolkata either by the end of this year or by the beginning of next year.
