As most of the airports in United Kingdom, Germany, France and many other European countries are experiencing heavy snowfall, the flights have been either cancelled or delayed. In turn these inbound tourists have cancelled their bookings in hotels and allied arrangements with travel agents. Consequently, there has been 30 to 35 per cent cancellation in bookings registered by travel agents and hoteliers. Rajasthan & Kerala have been hit the most due to this development.

Sometimes back Traveltechie.com had reported that most of the hotels in Kerala were going full for the year end, now suddenly, due to these cancellations, there are hotel rooms available in some of the most premium resorts in Kerala. Jaipur, the gateway to Rajasthan too faces the same situation.

Situations like these will warrant the need for the hoteliers to strategise & spread their risks by avoiding over indulgence on few markets & having a healthy mix of Domestic & International bookings to avoid last minute losses due to unforseen circumstances. The plan B approach will ensure that they are not left high & dry due to very volatile nature of inbound tourism business
