India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in association with Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has organized “Tourism for Art” an Art Camp from 20 - 24 April, 2013 at The Ashok, New Delhi. Dr. Lalit K. Panwar, Chairman and Managing Director, ITDC and Ms. Chandana Khan, Special Chief Secretary, Tourism, Government of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the Art Camp.
The Art Camp “Tourism for Art” is an initiative under the MoU signed between India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) with the objective to provide improved hospitality and tourism services by making joint use of their capabilities and facilities. The Art Camp will bring artists from various regions of the country like Hyderabad, Kolkatta, Jammu & Kashmir, and also Delhi to one common platform and will give them an opportunity to showcase their works to the art lovers.
Altogether a group of fifteen artists are participating in the five days Art Camp. ITDC has hosted the artists and will also provide the opportunity to them for showcasing and exhibiting some of their paintings which they have brought with them. The offer of painting on their canvasses has also been given to them so that the artists could sit indoors and paint or in the natural environs of The Ashok’s well manicured lawns or The Ashok Amphitheatre or even the Lily Pool Lawns.
