In an effort to promote the Ministry of Tourism’s ‘Hunar se Rozgar’ initiative, India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), signed an MoU with National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC) under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, for jointly conducting skill development programme for Indian youth belonging to scheduled castes for their employment in the tourism and hospitality sector.
The objective of the association is to pool the respective strengths, resources, expertise and goodwill of both ITDC and NSFDC for the purpose of creating employability of the youth by imparting vocational training. The ITDC-run Ashok Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management (AIH&TM) will impart skills training to candidates and develop human resource for tourism and hospitality sectors. As a part of the tie-up, AIH&TM along with its associates will place minimum 70% of the Batch in job, subject to minimum 90% attendance of the candidate.
ITDC or its associates will also provide all training infrastructure along with training materials and trainers. The candidates under both the Modules would be provided with free uniform, tool kits and meals and, at the end of the course, successful candidates will be awarded certificates jointly by ITDC and NSFDC.
NSFDC on its part will assist ITDC in short-listing and selection of students under the Scheme by deploying suitable persons to ensure that the selection is as per the eligibility criteria. NSFDC will bear the cost towards training under Module I and Module II.
In addition, NSFDC will provide stipend @ Rs.1000/- per month, per trainee which shall be released by the AIH&TM Centres to the ultimate beneficiaries on monthly basis upon fulfillment of 90% attendance.
