IRCTC ties up with Punjab Tourism to launch Sikh circuit special tourist train

The train will have a round trip from Delhi to Delhi and will take the tourists to the famous TAKHTS situated in various parts of the country, some of the sectors will be covered via Air Travel

IRCTC in collaboration with the Punjab Heritage & Tourism Promotion Board (PHTPB) has launched a Sikh circuit special tourist train.

The train will have a round trip from Delhi to Delhi and will take the tourists to the famous TAKHTS situated in various parts of the country like Sri Akal Takht Sahib Ji and Sri Darbar Harmandir Sahib Ji, Sri Keshgarh Sahib Ji, Sri Damdama Sahib Ji situated in Amritsar, Sirhind, Anandpur Sahib and Bhatinda. The first trip will commence on December 30, 2012.

The tour package has also a component of air travel wherein the tourists will be taken, from Delhi to Patna and Patna to Nanded, by flight for visit to Takht Sri Patna Sahib Ji and Takht Sri Hazur Sahib Ji respectively before returning to Delhi.

Rakesh Tandon, Managing Director, IRCTC said, "The development of religious tourism is one of the focus areas for the IRCTC and we are proud to launch the Sikh Circuit train."

Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Prakash Singh Badal Badal, who launched the package on Aug 6 said, "Punjab, with its rich cultural heritage, palaces, gurdwaras and natural resources, has tremendous potential in the tourism sector and this train will be a great success."

There will be 2 package categories - Deluxe (1 stAC) and Standard (2 ndAC) costing Rs. 1,00,001 and Rs. 90,000 per person respectively for the longer version of the tour and Rs. 97,500 and Rs. 88,050 for the shorter version.
