IRCTC's online air ticketing facility hit among passengers

IRCTC announced that about 1,500 tickets are being sold per day through the portal with a turnover of about Rs 50.00 lakh each day.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which launched air ticketing facility on May 5, 2010 on its website (www.railtourismindia.com), has announced that about 1,500 tickets are being sold per day through the portal with a turnover of about Rs 50.00 lakh each day.

IRCTC website, which also offers railway tickets, is considered the largest e- commerce site in Asia Pacific and a leading service provider in the tourism sector. The website is offering ten per cent cash back offer on purchase of air tickets and this has further raised air ticket booking on this website. IRCTC, a subsidiary of Indian Railways, also enables people to book hotel rooms and offers car rentals and tour packages services among others.
