The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has come up with 'Panch Takht Special', a tourist train for the Sikh pilgrims. It is launching a 9 nights/10 days package tour in Sangrur district, Punjab, starting on February 16.
The train will have a round trip from Dhuri to Dhuri and will take tourists to the famous 'Takhts' situated in various parts of the country like Sri Hazoor Sahib at Nanded, Sri Patna Sahib at Patna, Sri Damdama Sahib in Bhatinda, Sri Harmandir Sahib (Sri Akal Takht Sahib) at Amritsar and Sri Keshgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib.
Punjab, with its rich cultural heritage, gurdwaras and natural resources, has tremendous potential in the tourism sector and this train is expected to be a great success particularly amongst the Sikh pilgrims desirous of paying homage to Panch Takhts. This package will enable the devotees to visit and worship all the sacred Takhts, which are scattered over three different states of the country, in a single trip.
Starting from Dhuri on February 16, the train will reach Nanded on February 18 where tourists will visit Sri Hazoor Sahibji and stay the night there. The next stop will be at Patna on February 20; the tourists will be taken to Sri Patna Sahibji and will be staying at the Takht Sahib that night.
Sri Damdama Sahibji in Bhatinda will be the next attraction on February 23. The train will depart the same night from Bhatinda and reach Amritsar the following morning; the tourists will visit Sri Harmandir Sahib (Sri Akal Takht Sahib). After that tourists will depart for Anandpur Sahib, the same night and reach there the next morning on February 25 to visit Sri Keshgarh Sahibji. The tour will end thereafter at Dhuri the same day.
