The India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), an association sponsored by Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India, has decided to organise its sixth annual MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition) conclave at The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru on August 27-28, 2010. The conclave will be organised with the support of MoT and Karnataka State Tourism Department.
The objective of the conclave is to provide an excellent platform for buyers and sellers to interact with each other and build new relationship to develop MICE business in India. Last year, the bureau witnessed participation of 229 buyers from both domestic and international markets. This year, the bureau is expecting more number of buyers from both domestic and international markets compared to last year. The conclave will see participation of delegates from national and international associations, government organisations, international organisations, NGOs, professional conference organisers and travel agents – organising meetings and conferences in India.
As per the ICPB release, MICE is one of the fastest growing tourism segments in India and has huge potential globally. The MICE infrastructure in the country has been developing rapidly; especially convention hotels and conference venues of international standards are being set up in cities across the country. With corresponding expansion in the network of airline operations, India is ready to position and market itself as an important MICE destination.
