IATA Chief concerned over airline taxation in India and hike in Delhi airport charges

Mr Tony Tyler - the CEO of IATA , has said that the 346 per cent increase in rates at New Delhi Airport will add $400 million to airline cost affecting the industry by upto 5-7%

International Air Transport Association (IATA) CEO Tony Tyler has voiced his concerns about skewed taxation of jet fuel prices and the steep hike in airport charges.

He also called for allowing foreign airlines to acquire stake in domestic airline. He expressed a concern that the foreign airlines will not line up to invest in airlines in India.

Mr Tyler said he sees aviation as an enabler of growth, creator of jobs including skilled jobs rather then an activity to be taxed.
