Hotel Owner in Udaipur held for sexual assault on French tourist

A complaint was registered by the victim at the Ghanta Ghar Police station and Pushpendra Singh was arrested on Wednesday

The Udaipur police have arrested a hotel owner for trying to rape a French tourist in Lal Ghat area under Ghanta Ghar Police station.

The accused has been identified as Pushpendra Singh alias Bablu, a resident of Amba Mata. He is the owner of the Masala Restaurant in Udaipur as per a report in DNA.

According to a police official, a French tourist came to Udaipur on Tuesday and was staying in the Lake View Hotel near Lake Pichola.

Pushpendra Singh befriended her and joined her for visiting tourist destinations. Then, he invited her on dinner.

Later, the tourist reached his restaurant where they had dinner and took drinks till late night. Thereafter, as it was late, Pushpendra asked her to stay at his hotel.

After a while, Pushpendra started to sexually assault the tourist and also attempted to rape her, said the police.

However, the French tourist managed to flee away and took shelter in a nearby Royal Palace hotel, and in the morning, hotel management informed the tourist police.

Sub-inspector Shyam Ratnu was informed about the incident.

A complaint was registered by the victim at the Ghanta Ghar Police station and Pushpendra Singh was arrested on Wednesday.

The accused will be produced in the court on Thursday, said a police official.
