Himachal Pradesh has decided to launch an aggressive marketing campaign, using all available mediums including the online media to promote the state’s tourism potential as per a report in Indian Express.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, who held a meeting with tourism officials gave his nod to an e-marketing plan of the department to attract the maximum number of tourists. Dhumal said the state would use all safeguards to protect the environment and ecology while promoting tourism.
One such a scheme - ‘Home Stay’, where tourists can stay in rural areas and savour the state’s customs and lifestyle - has proved a big draw for visitors to Himachal. To promote the scheme,the government has exempted all units registered under the ‘Home Stay’ umbrella from commercial tariff of power and water.
“The state has also brought two important coffee table books Har Ghar Kuchh Kehta Hai depicting historical facts relating to the historical buildings in Shimla town and Har Gaon Ki Kahani carrying interesting stories concerning the respective village,” he said.
