Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister dedicated the Rs 18 crore State Hotel Management Institute at Salasi in Hamirpur district to the people of the state today.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the institute would cater trained and skilled hospitality staff boosting the hotel industry besides providing employment to the youth of the state. He said that 45 kanal land was provided to start this national level institute to impart quality education in hotel management to the students of the state.
He said that state government was taking steps to strengthen the industry which had large employment generation potential. He said that foundation stone of the institute was laid in july 2008 and the construction work of this impressive campus had been completed within 3 years. He said that Hamirpur district was emerging as a major hub of professional institutes of national repute and added that 125 students had been admitted in the institute including the students of other states.
Chief Minister said that tourist influx in the state had registered constant increase and 1.32 crore national and international tourists visited the state during the last year. He said that the number of foreign tourists visiting the state exceeded the number of tourists visiting Goa which proved that Himachal Pradesh was becoming a popular tourist destination. He said that state government was making constant efforts to fulfill the dream of Sh Atal Behari Vajpayee , former Prime Minister of making the state an '' education hub ''. He said that state offered a conducive environment for pursuing studies and added that both national and international students preferred to study in the educational institutions of the state. He said that state government was encouraging private universities to impart education of international standards to the youth of the state.
