Himachal Pradesh, known for its majestic hill stations of Shimla & Manali is facing a typical problem of infrastructure development. In March the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) had asked Himachal Pradesh to give top priority to improve infrastructure in the state so that industry does not move out in frustration.
For a state whose economy relies so much on tourism, the data released by the Union tourism ministry last year does not mention it among the top 10 states for domestic travel last year. Himachal Pradesh had just 1.1 crore Indian tourists in 2009.
The state needs to have improved infrastructure to attract more tourists & be in the list of top tourist destination amongst domestic tourists.
