Haryana plans to come up with a “world-class amusement park” on 25 acres of land adjoining the popular Tilyar Lake.  As per a report in the Indian Express, more than 25 years old, the man-made Tilyar Lake has been drawing frequent visitors from Delhi, since it is only 70 km from the national capital on the Delhi-Fazilka highway.

What makes it especially popular is that it forms a part of a lush green setting over a 132-acre complex. The lake covers 17 acres. The tourism department wants to extend the water body by another seven acres, bringing the total size of the lake to 24 acres. Before inviting expression of interest from major groups, the state is sprucing up facilities at the site to market it more effectively as a tourist destination.

Work has begun on the Rs 2.63 crore project to install six fountains at the lake and encircle the lake with complete fencing and lighting among other works. Haryana Principal Secretary (Tourism) Maha Singh said that this will be the first project of this size in PPP mode in Haryana. The department will provide the land for the purpose and revenue sharing will be worked out with the private partner.
