Haryana Government has declared tourism as industry for land use purpose, a senior officer said.

Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Devender Singh said that a notification to this effect has been issued as per a PTI report.

All tourism projects or activities mentioned in activities relating to amusement or recreation or theme parks, adventure tourism projects, heritage hotels with the exception of standalone activities like hotels, tourist resorts, food streets or outdoor dining areas or promenades or food courts or restaurants and commercial components within recreational and commercial activities would be classified as land use under industry, he said.

Singh said these provisions would be applicable to mega projects only involving an investment of Rs 100 crore or above or employing more than 500 people. The conditions would also be applicable with prospective effect to all the new as well as expansion projects, that is expansion proposals involving an investment of Rs 50 crore or more, he added.
