Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda met Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ajit Singh in New Delhi yesterday. Mr. Hooda requested the centre to take forward the proposal for building a Greenfield Cargo Airport for international operations at Meham in district Rohtak of Haryana sent by the State through Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (HSIIDC).
It came up during the discussion that an area of about 2770 acres has already been identified for the project which would be purchased from the private parties. The State informed that the displacement of population will be assessed and would be taken care of as per the R&R Policy of Haryana Government.
The meeting was informed that the proposal has been examined in the Ministry of Civil Aviation in consultation with Airports Authority of India and Directorate General of Civil Aviation for grant of site clearance and has been recommended by both the organizations.
