Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC), a state sector enterprise, reported a profit of Rs 2.45 crore in 2010-11 at its board meeting held today with chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in the chair as per reports.
The board of directors also gave formal approval for grant of 8.33 percent bonus to the employees of the Corporation for the year 2010-11. The bonus has already been given released to the employees and has benefitted 650 employees of the corporation.
Vineet Kumar, Managing Director, HPTDC, Rajwant Sandhu, Chief Secretary, Ajay Mittal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Arun Sharma, Director Tourism, Official and Non Official Members of the Board were present at the meeting.
Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation is also exploring the possibility of putting up a new lift complex for sixteen passengers, equipped with all modern amenities. This will be adjacent to the existing lift and in addition to the present lift complex comprising four lifts, run by HPTDC connecting The Mall road with Cart road.
Disclosing this, HPTDC MD Vineet Kumar while taking an emergency meeting of the senior officers of the Corporation and talking to the technical team of OTIS regarding the incident which occurred yesterday in the lift complex whereby 14 tourists were stranded, he further said that the present HPTDC lifts are fully equipped with all kinds of security measures. It was made clear by the technical team from OTIS, who is responsible for taking all kinds of safety measures for these lifts, that the problem was due to overloading. Kumar further said that all the tourists were rescued in a proper and efficient manner.
“We were also talking to the tourists during the period when they were stranded in the lift not to panic. As soon as the tourists come out, they were taken to Hotel Holiday Home and Peterhof and offered complimentary lodging and boarding. All care was taken including arranging of vehicles
