HICAP Sustainable Hotel Awards Now Open For Entries

Hopes to inspire industry wide commitment to embracing and proliferating sustainable development and operations as standard practice for the preservation of our global and local environments and cultures

Burba Hotel Network (BHN), Horwath HTL, and Stiles Capital Events, co-hosts and organizers of the annual Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP), are pleased to announce that entries for the HICAP 2012 Sustainable Hotel Awards are now being accepted.  The deadline for Awards submissions is 15 August 2012.  The 23rd annual HICAP will be held 10-12 October 2012, at the InterContinental Hong Kong.

The Sustainable Hotel Awards were launched at HICAP in 2007 to recognize hotels in the Asia Pacific region demonstrating exemplary sustainable best practices.  The institution of the Awards hopes to inspire industry wide commitment to embracing and proliferating sustainable development and operations as standard practice in contribution to the preservation of our global and local environments and cultures.

Submissions will be judged by a specially selected panel of experts including:

•    C.W. Cheung, Head, Footprint Programme, WWF - Hong Kong
•    Robert M. Day, Director of Planning, WATG
•    Lyndall DeMarco, Adjunct Professor, Griffith University, Asia Pacific Centre for Sustainable Enterprise
•    Dr. Harold Goodwin, Director, International Centre for Responsible Tourism, Leeds Metropolitan University
•    John Graham, Principal Specialist, Environmental, Social and Governance Department, International Finance Corporation
•    Klaus Lengefeld, Coordinator, GIZ
