The International Council of Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) has awarded Gujarat as the “Best Destination for Cultural Festivals”.

The award was announced at the recently held annual ITB Convention in Berlin. Incidentally, Gujarat had also bagged an award at the annual ITB Convention 2012, when it was awarded the “Best Emerging Tourism Destination”, according to a press release here on Thursday.

The PATWA is the world’s biggest travel writers’ organisation, represented by members from 70 countries. It organises international awards every year at the ITB Berlin, which is the world’s biggest travel fair, attended by exhibitors from 180 countries and more than 7,000 journalists.

The PATWA award is given in cooperation with Messe Berlin, to recognise governments, individuals, organisations involved in promotion of tourism from various sectors such as aviation, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators and government agencies.
