Gujarat CM Narendra Modi revealed some upcoming plans for Gujarat tourism on the first day of Navratri. Narendra Modi praised the growth of Gujarat tourism sector in past few years. 

One of his most ambitious plan is to recreate all 52 Shaktipeeths at the holy town of Ambaji. He plans to make Ambaji a yatra dham, as popular as Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chief Minister also announced plans to develop Tankara, the birth place of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati into a tourism spot. Narendra Modi said that he want Gujarat to become a major family tourist destination.

He is planning to use Raas Garba an old Gujarati tradition to lure foreign tourists. Modi said that festivals like Patangotsav, Rannotsav and Navratri have helped Gujarat emerge on the global tourism map.

Narendra Modi also lauded the tourism growth of Gujarat. While India tourism is growing 7 per cent annually, tourism in Gujarat has grown by 15 per cent. Today foreign tourists comprise 20 per cent of all tourist arrivals to Gujarat. The story of Gujarat tourism is quite remarkable.

Only 3 years ago Narendra Modi decided to push the tourism sector of Gujarat. He requested Superstar Amitabh Bachchan to promote Gujarat. The result is visible to everyone. Gujarat tourism ministry on record has said that Amitabh Bachchan is a big factor for Gujarat. With the help of Amitabh Bachchan, Gujarat moved into top 5 most visited states in India.
