The Gujarat government is eyeing the community's Diaspora in the country to boost tourism in its state. With a sizeable number of Gujaratis settled in different parts of the country, the state's tourism board has come up with a strategy focusing on them to increase the influx of tourists.

The tourism ministry has also drawn up a plan to develop 14 beaches located along its 1600-km coastline on a public-private partnership. The beaches start from south Gujarat near Surat to the desert of Kutch in the north.
