Owners of heritage propertiesincluding royal families from southern and central Gujarat gathered in the city on Monday to chalk out roadmap for promoting their properties as tourist spots. About 25 owners of heritage properties the southern and central regions joined the Gujarat Heritage Hotels Association (GHHA) - the umbrella association for heritage properties in the state. The idea, said the owners, was to join hands for promoting and developing heritage properties in Gujarat.

They feel that the 'Khushboo Gujarat Ki' campaign can bring added advantage if these heritage properties are developed. GHHA will be meeting the state tourism officials on March 14. "There about 20 small and big heritage properties in south and central Gujarat that can be developed as tourist spot. We need the help from government to develop our properties and also knowhow about how to convert them into heritage hotels," said Harshwardhan Solanki, scion of erstwhile Bansda state in Navsari.

The association will make a white paper about their plans and present it to the government. "There are many heritage properties including some at seaside that have very good potential," Solanki told TOI.

The heritage property owners include Rao Saheb Gopal Singhji of Poshina, Mahendrasinh Chauhan, royal family member of Chhota Udepur, Yuvraj Karmveer Singh Rana of Jambughoda, Kuldeep Singh Maharawal of Chorangla, Uday Singh Solanki of Timba, Yuvarani Anjanababa of Palasini and others.
