Goa to tie up Nice city for tourism initiatives

To collabarate on rapid transportation system and solid waste treatment

Goa tourism department is planning to tie up with Nice, a picturesque city in France, to provide better facilities to tourists visiting the state capital.

The tie-up would be done in specific areas such as rapid transportation system and solid waste treatment. Both the cities will collaborate on these issues on a time-bound programme, senior officials said.

Confirming the development, Goa Tourism director Swapnil Naik said that the state is definitely keen on partnering with France on this initiative. "We have invited a technical team from Nice, to study the conditions in Goa and to chalk out a feasible plan for execution."

Nice city has worked out an effective model to tackle the transportation issues. During a recent seminar in Goa, Rudy Salles, Deputy Mayor of Nice, initiatives like renting out cycles and fuel efficient cars including electric cars to tourists and pedestrian streets, were undertaken, to make commuting hassle-free.
