Goa receives around 26 lakh domestic and international tourists every year and it is now keen on promoting high end tourism with Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar seeking additional funds from the Centre to upgrade tourism infrastructure for attracting luxury tourists.
In a meeting with Union Minister of State for Tourism, K Chiranjeevi in New Delhi on Tuesday, Parulekar expressed his desire to create world class tourism infrastructure. The Goa minister told a press conference on Thursday that the state wants to score in attracting high end tourists including foreigners to the state.
“Goa being an important tourist destination, proper infrastructure has to be created on a war footing in order to attract high end tourists to this coastal state,” Parulekar told a press conference in Goa on Thursday. “He (Chiranjeevi) has assured all help and support from the Ministry and also liberal funding for the proposed tourism infrastructure projects to be undertaken by the State Government,” he added.
