The Manohar Parrikar-led state government has decided to take into confidence the tourism industry before finalising the infrastructural plans for the tourist areas through cluster development approach.

State Tourism Director Swapnil Naik told reporters here today that the state government will form a Cluster Development Board, as announced in the state budget, so that the infrastructure in these areas can be fixed only after consulting the stakeholders.

The beach areas would be clustered together depending on their proximity, Naik said adding that the areas of Sinquerim, Candolim, Calangute and Baga would form one cluster, so that their development can be designed under one plan.

A similar cluster approach would be adopted for Morjim-Ashwem, Arambol-Mandrem, Galjibag-Agonda, Colva-Benaulim beaches, he said. The State Tourism Department will be holding talks with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to know the modalities about forming the authority exactly.
