Goa Government has proposed a law to impose stringent control over several tourism sector-related activities. It intends to covers activities like spice farm tourism, water sports, tour operators, among others, which were till now outside the purview of the Tourism Department.
The government has introduced a bill in the state assembly to regulate uncontrolled water sports and eco-tourism activities in the state by making a ten-fold increase in the penalty amount to Rs 1 lakh for violating the law.
The Goa Registration of Tourist Trade (Amendment) Bill 2011, was introduced by Tourism Minister Nilkant Halarnkar.
