Goa government addresses garbage problem in the state, promotes green tourism

Initiatives are being taken to promote river tourism as a part of green tourism in the state

A press conference was called by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Goa, on Friday, addressing the litter and garbage issue in the state. Ralph de Sousa, spokesperson of the Travel and tourism association of Goa (TTAG), said that Goa government has taken steps to promote green tourism.

The initiative has started with the cleaning of beaches followed by marketing 'Clean Goa' at national and international level. Another press conference by the CII on the topic 'Riding the next wave of green practices', is scheduled for January 19.

Atul Pai Kane, vice vhairman of CII Goa Council and managing director of Power Engineering (India) Pvt Ltd, said the conference will have a session on green tourism, green energy, green infrastructure, corporate and residential.

The session intends to bring together industry leaders from various Indian manufacturing companies across sectors which have transformed their manufacturing process and adapted a sustainable approach through innovative designs, technology and engineering.
