The tourism department has floated a global tender inviting bids to draw up a comprehensive tourism masterplan for the state. Tourism director Nikhil Desai said the plan will chalk out a strategy that will take into account tourism development over the next 35 years. "We have received bids from some of the best in the world," he said, not elaborating further. The bids will be closed by the end of the month.
He further said the department has begun works to tackle the major bottlenecks along the beach belts. "In Baga, we're in the process of building better roads. In Calangute, beautification works have begun. We have also empanelled project consultants to identify other bottlenecks."
