The Goa tourism department has constituted a committee that will categorize, re-categorize and fix rates for hotels and casinos operating in Goa's tourist areas. To categorize hotels and casinos under the A, B and C categories, the tourism department has formed a committee headed by the tourism director as per a report in TOI.

Members on the committee will include representatives of hotels and restaurants association, principal of the institute of hotel management and catering technology at Porvorim, representative of the travel agents association, representative of travel and tourism association of Goa and representative of the Goa tourism development corporation ltd, Panaji.

Deputy director of tourism (trade) will serve as member secretary on the committee. The tourism department has also formed a second committee to classify, re-classify and fix rates for hotel accommodation under D category operating anywhere in Goa.
