HPI (Hotel Price Index) report which is a regular survey of hotel prices in major destinations across the world recently unvield its findings.
The report indicates a global hike of 4% in room rates while India surges ahead at 12%. The fall of the rupee value led to an increase in domestic tourism as most foreign locations were heavy on the pocket.
The report also indicates interesting aspects such as global events that influenced room rates, top destinations for inbound and outbound travelers and even destinations where a traveler could get hotel rooms for 6000 INR.
Few interesting excerpts from the report:
- Room Rates in Mumbai up 7% to 7,005 INR, New Delhi up 4% to 6,233 INR and Calcutta up 2% to 5,620 INR
- Indian travelers once again had the best eye for a bargain, being the nation spending the least for a hotel room at home on an average 4,709 INR a night, followed by the Spanish on 4,884 INR and the Chinese on 4,974 INR
