Konkan Bhumi Pratisthan, which has promised to bring more locations in Konkan on tourism map, has announced a delightful treat to the Mumbaikars in the form of this year's Global Konkan Festival at Goregaon in Mumbai from January 4 TO 7.
The 4-day extravaganza will witness a host of events and activities at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. Named as 'Konkan Vision 2025' the organizers demand that the government should develop infrastructure so as to promote tourism and help explore scenic beaches and valleys.
While formally launching the Konkan Vision 2025 document, Sanjay Yadavrao, President, Konkan Bhumi Pratisthan(KBP) said, "There are three key ingredients for the growth and development of any region which includes, ports, airports and industries. The history is witness that today's major cities have been developed with these three ingredients. The region of Konkan, if planned with a long term strategy, has equal potentials of turning into the next big contributor to the State and National GDP."
The well-crafted vision document envisages a roadmap for the sustainable development along with the economic growth of Konkan region. The document captures the views and opinions of the policy makers including, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other ministers such has Sunil Tatkare and Narayan Rane.
According to KBP only some of the destinations in Konkan have been made popular amongst the tourists. However, there are many more such destinations in Konkan and a planned approach starting from developing the basic infrastructure is nee of hour.
"There are about 10 popular destinations which have developed by the tourists and local people. However, there are more than 100 destinations in Konkan which can be developed into tourism centres. The tourists are not aware of many other destinations which have equal and even more potentials. Keshi in Ratnagiri, Ambolgarh Beach, Aachara Beach in Malvan, Nivati Bhogave in Vengurla, Raghuvir Ghat in Khed Taluka, Shivtirthgarh in Mahad are some of the locations which have a great potential," Yadavrao said.
