Macau’s ever evolving infrastructure and its cosmopolitan character has always fascinated the Indian traveller. The rising number of Indian arrivals in Macau has made it favorable for the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) to capitalise on the Indian market. As a result, to further expand its share in the Indian Outbound market, Macau trade interacted with the Indian travel trade at a Mini Mart on 20th April, 2011 at The Trident, Mumbai and22nd April 2011 at The Imperial, New Delhi.

The mart was organised to put together a platform for direct dialogue between India’s leading travel agents and tour operators with their eminent counterparts from Macau.

The aim of this mart was to enhance the knowledge of the Indian travel agents on Macau. Visitors also got a chance to increase networking with senior representatives from leading Macau hotels, tour operators, airport authority and TurboJet.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Ms. Maria Helena De Senna Fernandes,Deputy Director of MGTO who said, “Since 2002, the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) has stepped up its efforts to attract tourists from India, one of the fastest growing outbound travel markets in the world.  Over the years, MGTO has been taking part invarious travel fairs and tourism promotional activities.  Last year, the Mini Mart held in India achieved fruitful results.

To actively respond to the demand, we have organised this year’s Mini Mart with even more Macau travel trade partners participating. We are glad to see representatives from new tourism products in Macau here to introduce their upcoming hotels and facilities.  In 2010,Macau received close to 170,000 Indian visitors, representing a significant growth of over 57% compared to 2009.  We will continue to dedicate efforts in developing this market, to increase Macau’s exposure and attract more visitors from India”
