Germany woos travellers from South and West India

H1 2012 shows a 13.7% increase over 2011; GNTO India and India Pool Roadshow

Kicking off the second phase of the India Pool Activity week, at Bangalore, which will then move to Ahmedabad, the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) India indicated eyeing more Indian travellers, already having achieved over 5,47,480 visitor overnights from India in 2011.

The GNTO ‘India Pool’ consisting of partners including hotels, airports, cities, transport operators and DMCs, will be engaging with the travel trade. The India Pool delegation will showcase the latest updates, highlights and attractions for the Indian travellers. Present at this roadshow are representation from; Saxony Tourism, Cologne Tourism, Frankfurt International Airport, Duetsche Bahn and Alpha Travel Consultants. 

“With support of the India Pool and having received another year of reassuring response from Indian travellers, GNTO India is focused on intensifying its marketing activities in India with an investment of €500,000 between 2012-15”, said Romit Theophilus, Director-Marketing, GNTO India.

Mr. Theophilus further added, “The hiked investments are a clear indication of the response Germany is receiving from India and we intend to utilise the same in result oriented marketing activities, study tours for media and trade and other sales activities.” 

Germany continues to enjoy its strong image as an ideal leisure destination among the Indian travellers, witnessing an encouraging growth of 15.1% from January to May 2012. A study on visitor overnights of Europe, conducted by IPK International confirmed Germany’s jump to No 1. Position, that was till 2010 only second to UK.
