Germany to target Youth tourists in 2013

Aims for 10% growth from all visitor segments from India in 2013 and an approximate investment of half a million Euros by Germany in India in the year

The German National Tourist Office in India which is responsible for promoting destination Germany for leisure and business announced a continued focus on growth in India. The new 2013 marketing theme is “Germany for young people” with plenty to look forward to during this campaign. 

Germany a destination for all seasons is especially spreading an array of experiences for the young in 2013. A country where the traditional and modern are woven together into forms of expression be it in art, fashion, food and drink or music, each visit provides a great value for money and lasting memories. 

Romit Theophilus, Director, Sales and Marketing, GNTO India addressing the media said “Since the establishment of GNTO in India in 2006, we have registered a growth of 55% in traffic to Germany from India for the period 2007-2012. Our latest 2013 campaign ‘Youth Hotspots in Germany-share the moment’ is centred around broad spectrum of activities targeting the young, ranging from social media, online microsite development, development of Youth hotspots etc.”

The social media campaign which has been officially launched at the ITB Berlin 2013 will continue until March 2014. 

The main communication channels being used at the start of the campaign are a dedicated section of the website (www.germany.travel/youth) and social media platforms in particular facebook, Twitter (twitter.com/GNTB2013) and instagram (www. instagram.com/youthhotspotsgermany) 

App and Microsite for sharing the moment

The core elements of the campaign are a mobile app and a new microsite. GNTB brought out a Youth Hotspots mobile app as part of the campaign available free from the App store and google play, it provides young travelers with an overview of 1300 open access WI-FI hotspots in Germany, enabling them to access social networks for free.
