The Keoladeo National Park or Keoladeo Ghana National Park formerly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in Rajasthan is home to over 230 species of birds. It is also a major tourist centre with scores of ornithologists arriving here in the hibernal season.

Mr and Mrs Gueltlinger from Germany had arrived at Bharatpur on Monday morning and after checking into a hotel, went to explore migratory birds where they were looted by 3 unidentified men who carried a baton and a gun as per a report in Times of India.

Despite being injured, the German couple did not cancel their tour to the Bharatpur bird sanctuary. The elderly couple visited Band Baretha on Tuesday. Recalling the nightmare, their guide Harish Sharma, who also sustained serious head injuries, said, “We were sitting after doing a round of the park when we spotted three youths. Two of them carried a baton and one of them pointed a gun towards us.”
